First day of Eid, hubby and I decided on McDonalds. I no longer go into the ‘ketupat, rending, lodeh’ menu anymore, as there is only two of us and it is too time consuming, and we are not missing much where pumping the calories is considered.

Today, after much calculation, I started to prepare for a dish that is famous in the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean region called Moussaka. It is a simple dish but very time consuming, it took me nearly 2 hours to prepare everything before bunking it in the oven, in time for dinner at around 7pm.

Moussaka normally requires the eggplant and potatoes to be shallow fried till brown, I chose not to fry any of these ingredients but instead bake them in the oven for 30 minutes. As for the ground beef, I went to the ‘halal’ store and picked a lean piece of meat that is totally free of fat, and had it freshly grounded.

The end result was very much to our liking and dinner was very satisfying for the stomach, the soul and the husband’s wife relation.

It is so good to hear your man telling you that your cooking is better than his mother’s ( he he he ).
