Efficient Government

Woke up early on Saturday, as I needed to catch up with the girls. Due to the fact there is a 6 hour difference, it is kind of difficult to be online at the most convenient time for both parties. We could not have the quality time on Friday, as they had an appointment on the same day in the evening.

Since today is the first day of Euro 2008, I know if I do not make the time for them now, I am gonna miss them again. So, alhamdulillah we meet online again, catch up on each other for like 2 hours than I have to go already.

First we had to go get our supply of halal meat at the market, then came home, packed and stored them in the freezer. Our next destination is the Intersport Store, as I saw an offer that is too good to ignore, we went, we saw and we decided to come back on Tuesday, since the offer only starts next Monday.

The train was unusually packed today, people from all over Europe are here to witness the take off of the Euro 2008. The streets were packed too, all the participating teams, singing, drinking and celebrating way before the opening. Cars were honking mad, loud music a blast followed by all kinds of salutations. It was fun, fun, fun all the way.

As you know all tickets were sold out, however, big screen TVs with stages were substituted for those without tickets, trust me the mood is just the same as if you were at the stadium. The organizers were fantastic, security and body checks were super strict. Football hooligans are not welcome, parks were closed to protect from being tampered.

Road closures were set 20 minutes before the kick off, signs were put up for the supporters, portable toilets, food stalls, petrol police, paramedics etc were placed appropriately. We were not allow to bring in bottled drinks, sharp objects, umbrellas and other `so called' provocative items, but it was fine.

10 minutes into the game, the sky opened on us, and no one, no one ran away from the rain, they were still rooted in place, however, raincoats were immediately distributed, it was fantastic. Looking back, I know no matter how advanced we think our country can be, boasting about the twin tower, mega bullshit projects here and there, we are still very very far behind.

It is so peaceful just knowing that the Government here is taking care and concern not only about their citizen but humans in total.
