Dress Code, Got It?

Extract from The Telegraph.co.uk:

The supermarket has introduced the dress code – which also forbids bare feet – due to a spate of people doing their weekly shop in their nightwear.

Customers at the St Mellons store in Cardiff, South Wales, are now greeted by signs warning them of the new rules.

They were put up in response to customers complaining that the relaxed shopping habits of some made them uncomfortable and embarrassed.

The new signs, headed Tesco Dress Code Policy, read: "To avoid causing offence or embarrassment to others, we ask that our customers are appropriately dressed when visiting our store (footwear must be worn at all times and no nightwear is permitted)."

A spokeswoman for Tesco said: "We're not a nightclub with a strict dress code, and jeans and trainers are of course more than welcome.

"We do, however, request that customers do not shop in their PJs or nightgowns.
"This is to avoid causing offence or embarrassment to others."

She added: "This is in response to other customers. We would never dictate to people.
"But we have listened to customer feedback that it makes them uncomfortable and embarrassed."

Yesterday mother-of-two Elaine Carmody, 24, was one of the first to fall foul of the new rules, and was escorted from the premises by a security guard.

"He said it offends people. But I've never seen anyone offended," she said. "I just don't understand it. I go in other shops in my pyjamas and they don't say anything.

"You used to always be allowed in Tesco. But not now - it is ridiculous and stupid.

"I've got lovely pairs of pyjamas, with bears and penguins on them. I've worn my best ones today, just so I look tidy."

Cannot imagine if this is to be implied back home, my guess is that TESCO will have to employ more security guards to escort the customers out of the supermarket. Well, come to think of it everyone there either feel very comfortable walking around the shopping mall looking so trashy or they will be so overly dressed, that you might think that they were in the wrong place. Maybe they should be chauffeur driven to a grand invite.

TELL ME WHAT IS NEW THERE?????
