Dexter

At the moment we are hooked on Dexter, completed season one with twelve episodes. Season one was based on the book Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, I hope I will get to buy this book soon. However, it is not easy to get one here as 99% of the bookstore does now carry any English books at all. Whatever, it will be on my list to be bought.

The Showtime series couldn't be any more psyched, it got us captivated in an overwhelming way with its dark, notorious, hidden subject matter, and surprises. Dexter really brought us to a new point of love hate relationship with the main character of the show, which was played by Michael C. Hall. He is so tender yet so severely psychotically confused. You cannot help but falling in love with his tenderness.

Dexter is in its fifth season now, tonight after Iftar, we will start with season two. Some of the episodes could keep me awake all night, or waking up in cold sweat following horrible nightmares from some of the bloody scenes of the Showtime.

But I am so hooked on Dexter, it is something that I look forward to to warm me up during this gloomy cold rainy autumn.

The Rustic Couple

The way they dressed up for the street show always impressed me, I love the rustic idea of the costume and it really make them stand out from the rest of the morden time court jester (if I may call them).

Look at the pictures, every time someone put a coin in the pot for either of them, they will bow very gently with their eyes closed. Many people dropped coins one at a time from the lady to the man. However, one smart aleck decided to see what happened when the coins are put into both pots simultaneously.

You can imagine what happened, they never stop bowing and standing, bowing and standing, as more people decided to have fun with them. We had a good laugh, but they keep their cool and I think they make quite a collection from being clown around.

I still like their rustic costume.

When The Orchestra Plays

Never knew that Chopin and Mozart can have an effect on me, listening to this orchestra playing their music was so therapeutic especially in the chill of an autumn evening. I was feeling so free, so peaceful and so in love. Will definitely come back for more, every second was worth it.

If Guns Can Talk

If guns and other weapons can talk, do you think it will tell you a story of the past, of how many lives that were taken unwillingly, how many miseries left unrevealed, how many nations left broken.

If guns and other weapons can talk, do you think it will tell the truth of the cartel of drugs and diamond kingdom, of greed beyond the norm, of forced labor whose lives were taken and bodies laid undiscovered.

If guns and other weapons can talk, do you think people like Bush, al-Bashir, Sharron, Osama and others could be brought to justice?

If guns and other weapons can talk, do you think this world would be a better place to live in?

Chef Diva In The House

It is not often that Chef Diva will be in the kitchen, but when she is there she will be concocting a sumptuous complete menu for us. We love it when Chef Diva cooks as her forte is actually Western.

Last week we were served Pappardelle with salmon and mushroom carbonara sauce, Romaine Cos lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and shrimp salad, and yeah éclairs with chocolate sauce for desert.

Chef Diva is one hell of a cook, she is just fantastic. Please cook for us always…………….. ‘smile’

In The End It Doesn't Even Matter

Ice Cream After Iftar

The little angel wanted something else but it was not available, she settled for the fruit tart which of course was also globed by the none other. The two scoop ice cream that I ordered, but because they don’t have the sugar free ice cream in this parlor, my little angel was forced to share the rest.

“OMG are they for real ma? They have many more choice in this parlor, I like them already”…………………………. Chef Diva’s smile of satisfaction.

The pathetic look of boredom when he cannot play with his phone…………………….. until the spaghetti ice cream arrived.

I love the evening walk that we take every once in awhile after iftar, when the weather is fine it is really lovely, and we do make it a point to have our ice cream while enjoying whatever is left of the summer.

Yesterday's Iftar

At time I am lost for ideas to prepare for iftar, the expectation of the family is always high, so no matter how blur I can be, I will try to come up with something that everyone will enjoy.

Yesterday was no different, my mood was not too bright either as the sun was not showing itself and cloudy rainy skies just make me sad. I spent most of the time under my blanket and playing games on the computer, while waiting for the angels to come back.

Soon it was time to go to the kitchen, without much hesitation I took out a bag of ribs. My first impression was to make soup with potatoes and carrot, but as the ribs were boiling slowly I decided to cook my father’s all time favorite which is ‘Tulang masak lemak cili padi with kerisik’. Accompanying this dish was a simple stir fry dish of French beans with bio tofu.

Hubby is not feeling too well this few days, so to give him some initiative to eat I made his fried sweet potatoes. It is so difficult to get good sweet potatoes here, every time you buy 3 pieces only 1 is good to use, and yesterday Chef Diva bought 2 pieces, we were lucky that at least 1 was good. Therefore, it does not take long before the small plate was gone.

Yesterday’s iftar was just yummy.

Coins Are Too Heavy

These couple was a crowd puller in the middle of the famous street, almost everyone stopped to see what exactly they were doing, and we were no different. We were wondering if it was some kind of a dance or an acrobatic or whatever but they managed to make us watched them till the end of their act.

As usual they will require you to make some contribution for watching their free show, it was not a big deal everyone is in the know of that. However, what pissed us off was when the lady later holding up the hat to the crowd shamelessly announced that they do not want coins, so please don’t give them coins, as coins are so heavy to carry, and that they prefer paper money which will enable them to have enough for them to go on travelling.

I was like WTH? Wasting no time, we just left and yeah they don’t deserve a single cent from us. Her words chased away the many people who were reaching into their pockets for their bit of contribution.

Oh well, I hope they get rich one day and travel the world free all the time.

Taking Shape

After almost 3 months we could not wait for Mario to complete a lot of things that he was supposed to do. Hubby being my handy man decided to fix things and make living more comfortable for us. He was the hands behind the taking shape of the angels’ room. They were very happy with their cozy private area finally, and as for Mario well, I think he thinks this is his home too.

Arrrrrrrrrr…………………………… please let us miss you already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ketupat and Kurma

The package arrived very early last Friday morning, in fact I was still in bed and hubby was about to go shower. I was not aware that it was the delivery people, and when told that it was a mistaken buzzer, I went back to sleep.

I only realized that it was a package from my dearest Medic Princesses when I was opening the blinds on the windows. We were all so excited to receive the package knowing that it contains all that we have been missing for a long time.

Among the content of the package were some instant ketupat and kurma powder. Without thinking too much, a decision was made that we will have ketupat for Iftar in the evening. I boiled 8 packets of the mini ketupat which instantly got my little angel worried in case this will not be enough.

The ketupat was accompanied by chicken kurma and aurbegine chili as we do not have the ingredients to make the peanut sauce. Ah well, as long as everyone is happy what’s missing can always wait.

Thank you sayang for the package, you are appreciated.

Muruku Craving

How often do you crave for something and your mind keep on reminding you over and over again about the percentage of your craving. Of late I have been craving for muruku, it is just amazing how my mind goes full swing to wanting to eat this muruku.

Back home I know just the place where I can get the best cleanest none commercially produced muruku, and that was from an Indian man who has his business by the road side in a housing area in Bangsar. He runs his business under a small picnic umbrella, two small tables, a stool for him to sit on and a wok for frying. Everything he sells was just fantastic and fresh. He also sells very tasty potato curry puff and some other Indian pastries that I don’t know the name.

Anyways, the murukus that he made was just one of the best that I had ever tasted. The combination of the flour, chili, salt, spices and oil could not have been better. People normally eat muruku on occasions, but the muruku that he provided is good to be taken anytime, and I used to enjoy mine with tea or coffee.

I guess it must be my mind rambling over things that I wish I could have while my stomach is empty from 0400 hours to 2016 hours in the evening. Ahhhhhh…………. Still I wish I could have that muruku.

Impulstanz, spot the stranger
