Teachers

For two day in a row, I have been assisting my youngest daughter with doing the correction on her `agama’ examination mistakes. Oh, yeah, she failed btw, poor baby, and she failed very badly too. Between pacifying and reasoning with her, I can actually feel her pain.

You may wonder why it took me two day to finish the corrections with her; truth was the questions were killing alright. God, it was damn tough and honestly, I don’t even know some of the answers. What were these people thinking when they were doing the questions, I didn’t send my daughter to school to be `Ustazah’. She has to know about `agama’, that’s a must, but why are some of the questions so deep? Do you in your right mind think that a 12 year plus could understand what a 50 years old don’t? Come on give me a break ok.

She was so cute, she even went back to the `Ustaz’ and asked him, if it is possible for him to give her a few more marks, so that she will pass the examination. Well, teachers in school they always hold the kids at random, he agrees, however on the condition that she writes him a letter, promising him that she will score 80/100 in her final exam. I was like……. What? Innocently, she told me, how can I promise that, but I can try to get 70/100, so I told her forget it. You don’t have to write the letter, he can keep his marks and you go on and do your best.

I have long been frustrated with our education system, but do we have a choice? When my son was in grammar high in Australia, the Principal in his school told me proudly that the then Minister of Education 3 sons were also studying in the same school. I think he was the Sulaiman guy or something, so imagine that? The Education Minister himself does not trust our system, and just because we cannot afford to send our kids out of the country, we have to swallow all the shit.

Anyways, I decided to send my daughter to private school, simply because she will have more quality time with the teachers (boy was I wrong), and the extra curriculum will be beneficial to her. The only extra things that I can see in her current school system is that they offer the kids extra language, e.g Spanish, French or Arabic, other than that all are pretty much the same as the full government school. The other advantage is that they stay longer in school, so parents can take their time and do not have to join in the already over congested working hour’s road.

During Hishamuddin’s time, we witnessed all sorts of changes to the current education system, so much so that I am already loosing track of what is in and what’s out. There was this time, we were informed that we can already send our kids to the International School……………….. ahhh for real? Check again, tipu lagi!!. Amal was initially in Garden International School, then we had to take her out because my previous nationality could not be accepted as a non resident. So, when I saw the latest announcement, I went back to Garden and was told that, they are yet to receive any instruction from the Government. Hemm……………….. do you think, I should keep on hoping???? Beruban la!!!! Btw, do you know where Hishamuddin’s kids are schooled?

Can you also recall, how our kids were allowed to bring hand phones to school? Yeah, of course most parents feel good about that, mainly for security reasons. However, one day when I went to school to fetch my daughter, I saw her crying outside the security post. I was shocked, because this little monkey when she cries, I will cry more. Once inside the car, she told me that the prefect had confiscated her phone, as usual all hell broke loose. I called the school and demanded for explanations, the rest was history.

I am confused, the Ministry of Education will publish something and the school will do another thing, does this mean that the Ministry of Education is just a shame, like many other Ministries?

Dream Catcher

Woke up late today, didn’t even hear the alarm ringing. When I opened my eyes, hubby was sitting next to me, showered and shaved. I quickly jumped out of bed, thinking that I must have been late. Took out his working clothes, went to the kitchen and start preparing his breakfast.

But, all the time, in my head the song that kept me from waking up today kept singing. I was trying to patch up all the wording together and I could still hear the voice that was serenading the song to me in my dream. Weird, how calm and peaceful it was.

I told hubby I wish I can remember who was singing that song to me, because it was such a beautiful voice, he looked at me and said; I know how much you are missing the kids. You know, it is really frustrating, as I am doing this entry, because I am still trying so hard to remember my dream, I wish I had bought a dream catcher and put it at the window, like what Alia believes in. Alas, I guess, all good things must come to an end, so did my dream. God willing may be tonight the voice will come and serenade me again.

However, I am putting the song here to share it with you, and I hope you will like it too. Just imagine someone caressing your head in your sleep and singing this so softly to you. Go on and imagine it doesn’t hurt.

Mengapa Di Rindu (Saloma)

Anak punai anak merbah
Terbang turun buat sarang
Anak sungai pun berubah
Ini pula hati orang
Mengapa dikenang

Asal kapas jadi benang
Dari benang dibuat baju
Barang lepas jangan kenang
Sudah jadi orang baru
Mengapa dirindu

Kasih yang dulu tinggal dalam mimpi
Kasih yang baru simpan di hati
Kasih yang dulu tinggal dalam mimpi
Kasih yang baru simpan di hati

Selat teduh lautan tenang
Banyak labuh perahu Aceh
Jangan kesal jangan kenang
Walau hati rasa pedih
Mengapa bersedih

Kalau pinang masih muda
Rasanya kelat sudahlah pasti
Kalau hilang kasih lama
Cari lain untuk ganti
Mengapa dinanti

Patah 'kan tumbuh hilang berganti
Akan sembuh kalau diubati
Patah 'kan tumbuh hilang berganti
Akan sembuh kalau diubati

Sayang mengapa dirindu

Hillary Clinton Under Sniper Fire

Finally, Hillary Clinton bowed out of the presidential race ungracefully and 20 million in debt. 11.5 million She own to herself and 9.5 million in bills. How do you summon that, because at the end of her speech she will always said go visit my website and support this campaign. Then do you remember the poor school boy who sold his bicycle and his play station to donate to her campaign? But, despite this poor boy like many others losing everything to support her, she is still in debt.

How in the world can someone as smart as Hillary come out with such stupidity, ok let’s give her the benefit of the doubt, even if it is true, would you go to the lowest to accept this contribution, knowing that the poor boy was stripped off the things that he enjoyed. Really, what could he benefits from this? Will he now walk to school, and does not look forward to come home, because his play station is gone. You must have one hell of a campaign manager Hillary!!!

I always thought that Hillary is a super woman, so strong, so powerful, so convincing and so knowledgeable. Her demeanor is exemplary; I watched her speeches and her debates with interest, until that moment where in front of international TV she told everyone that she had to duck the snipers while visiting Bosnia. It’s amazing how short her memory can be, because the incident happened in March 1996 and this was what she said “I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.”

Then CNN does a rerun of the video of her arrival, of which no such claimed took place, however, it showed she and her daughter Chelsea smiling and waving as they walked at a leisurely pace across the tarmac from the plane, stopping to have some handshakes, and listening to a young girl reciting a poem. On this day, I lost my respect for her.

I agree with many that had branded Hillary as a Congenital Liar, you can see from her eyes, her cunning smiles, her retarded laughs and her false hugs. We all know about the 9/11 attack, but Hillary knows better, as she also claimed that her daughter was in danger then, because she was out jogging down to the towers, and she saw the planes hit. Chelsea of course debunked the phony story of her famous mother.

And now the Americans are pressuring Obama to take Hillary as the VP, wait a minute…………… are you guy nuts or, ok, ok clueless?

You might as well vote for Britney Spears; at least she can sing (though she lip signs all the time) and dances in the nude.

I concluded that Hillary is a creepy person and a power-hungry maniac, yet many people still love her. How can this be? May be they are breathing different air than what we all do.
Anyway, Hillary if you stumble on this blog of mine, can you fill me up, on that poor boy? I would like to send a bicycle and a play station to him, so that this can be an investment for your running as a Senator.

My Hideout

There were moments in my life that I question my existence, especially when more than often I saw dark clouds surrounding me. The moving from Singapore was very tough for me to accept and to understand. I kept things to myself, I don’t trust to share my predicament with anyone. My mom nags a lot, she nags over the same thing, she nags over nothing, and she nags as though she is doing a ritual or a blessing for the house.

It was moments like this that I will go to my hideout; I discovered that there is a Christian cemetery not too far from my house, and I will sneak out in times of solitude. First it was quite scary, as the graveyard is covered with thick jungle, and the surrounding was very quiet, except for the sound of birds, and people passing by every once a while. Then, I realized that I enjoyed being there, it is as though I’m making some kind of contact by reading the inscriptions on the tombstones. I will go from one grave to the other, reading, understanding, wondering and thinking. This is a real escape for me.

There were times that I will come across a real burial, and I will follow them, listening very carefully to what they were praying and wait until the body was lowered to the ground. A few days later, I will come back to see what was written on the tombstone.

Now, I do not go to that graveyard anymore, it does not look interesting as most of the old graves look so sad compared to the new ones. And, I am yet to find a new hideout, meanwhile, I read the obituary in the papers, not only that, I also cut and keep the interesting contributions. Weird you might think but life is weird right?

In Her Eyes

She's a sweetheart, a darling and a real angel. She is not much of a communicator, but a very caring person. She is the thoughtful one, who will remind each and everyone of us, so that we are not forgetting anything. Growing up fast, yet still very innocent, she is the light of our home. I thank God everyday for this beautiful gift.

Today she sent me her vision of her mama and her stick family. In her eyes:-----------> this is mama

In her eyes, this is her stick family. She has also included the soul of a cat (our cat Fatso died 2 yrs back). The snaily is a nickname for hubby and the ducklin is a nickname for mama.

Thank you sweetheart. God keep you safe and healthy always. I love you.
